I chopped off all my hair

Actually, I had it chopped off by a professional.

Here's a front view. You really can't tell just from the front how short it is.But from the side and the back you can tell!!!! It was not my intention to cut it this short. I went it, and told Tiffany I wanted something new, but didn't want it cut too much. She looked at me and asked, "How are we going to do something new if you don't let me cut it?" Good point. So I let her cut.
Curtis likes it. But he also said I could shave my head and he would still like it, since it was attached to me. He's been super sweet about all the hair styles I've played with over the past few years. Thanks for not being an "I want my wife to always have long hair even though she doesn't always like it" husband, Curtis.

Based on my history, I've decided I have hair ADD. Here's why......

September '06, shortly after finding out I was expecting Benjamin. I a moment of "I'm going to have 3 children 3 and under" I chopped off my hair.
By my sister's wedding, June '07 I had played with various degrees of the short hair cut from the previous fall. I decided to start growing it out.
December '07, I was making progress in growing it out. I got a cute little style that I really liked.
March, '08 I got a style I really liked. However, I still couldn't get it into a pony tail.

But by Christmas '08 I could put my hair in a cute pony tail with the help of some bobby pins. Here's how long it was just a couple weeks ago. I was ready for my hair to have a style again, and was feeling the ADD voices telling me to cut it again. So far, I like it. Not sure if it's "me" though.

Thoughts?

You can call me Dorothy!

During nap time today, the tornado sirens started going off, By the evening, we were in the basement, taking "precautionary measures". It was quite exiting, especially since we are all safe and sound.
eating dinner, checking the weather, and learning about tornadoes. Quite an evening!!

You probably can't tell from the picture, but check out the water. These are the straight line winds, right after the worst part of the storm.
We are now watching a movie, enjoying the calm after the storm.

Chinese Food on the Porch

This evening, we had a nice, quiet, family evening. And since we've been going non stop since we got here, it was a nice change of pace. My parents had the great idea of ordering Chinese food from Pei Wei (yummers!!) and while my Dad and I went to pick up the food, my Mom and the kids set everything up so we could eat outside on the deck. It was so much fun. We did miss Curtis though.

Art Show

Last night Shannon had her thesis art show. AMAZING!! Her work was incredible, and I know I was just one of several people there who were very proud and impressed with her work.

A New Adventure

This afternoon, the kids and I will get into our packed van, and make the trip to Wichita KS. Without Curtis. Me and three kids, all the way to Kansas. Without Curtis. 538 miles. And did I mention Curtis won't be there?

I'm really, really, really looking forward to seeing my Dad and Shannon! I haven't seen them since Christmas. I'm also looking forward to seeing my Mom, who I always miss. And of course, we are greatly anticipating Aunt Shannon's Art (aka Shannon's Thesis Art Show). We will also have the opportunity to see my grandparents, aunt, and two of my cousins. It's going to be great!

But clearly, I'm a little nervous about the drive. My head is full of scenarios of the car breaking, me getting lost, locking the keys in the car, no being able to stop to pee, having a hard time staying awake...... the list goes on and on, and around and around in my head. I'm also concerned that if the trip to KS is bad, I won't want to make the trip home.

However, I'm also really looking forward to this little adventure. You might remember that this isn't the first time I've made a trip alone. That first trip didn't go well. But a lot has changed, and I'm anticipating (and hoping and praying) that this trip will be smoother. I feel very prepared, and I'm confident that the kids and I can take on this new adventure!

So if you think of us this afternoon, we would appreciate your prayers. We'll be leaving around 3:30. The trip normally take 8 1/2 hours, though I'm anticipating it taking a little longer, so it could be a very late night. Thanks for your prayers!!

Awwww!!!!

It's hard to get a good picture of just Curtis and I. Usually, it involves one of us taking the picture from arm's length, which Curtis is actually very good at.

A few weekends ago, we went to the fundraiser for the youth missions trip. It was a great evening!! We didn't plan to, but ended up coordinating. Marian was taking pictures of all the people there, and got this one of Curtis and I. I love it! So of course, I had to post it. A post that doesn't have a picture of my children. Shocking, I know! No worries, just check out the post below.

"Birthday" pictures

I used to take the kids to have their pictures taken at Sears, right around their birthday. By the time that Benjamin rolled around, I was tired of Sears, and not all that thrilled with the pictures that I was getting. Last year, I decided to just take my own pictures. It worked well. Now, every April (which is right around everyone's birthday) I take the kids out in the backyard, and snap a few pictures. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Texas Springs

Along with beautiful bluebonnets, and highways blanketed in wildflower, you also get crazy rain storms in our part of Texas. We will have the most perfect weather, followed by a day full of rain, and cooped up and cranky kids.

This past week, since I was sick, then Micah was sick, the kids were getting really cooped up. Friday rolled around and we had one of those Texas rain storms that lasted all day long. We had been in the house far too long!

Saturday, while I was at a scrapbooking event in Houston, Curtis got the kids outside. He let them run, and play, and enjoy the rain puddles left over from the storm. And because he’s just that awesome, he took pictures!!!

Today, we are still enjoying some of the effects from the rain. MUD! It wasn’t a good nap day here, and I knew the kids would have a better evening if they had the opportunity to burn some energy, so out into the mud I let them go. They’re actually still out there now. No fussing. No fighting. Just good, old fashion, muddy fun!

Anyone want to come over and bathe my children for me?

To the new baby cousin, from the big cousins

I'm an Aunt!!!

Jeremiah Brant Wilson has joined our family this morning!! My sister, Megan and her husband Matt are the very proud parents. He was born this morning, weighing 7 lbs 15oz, and measuring 21 inches long and has blond hair (like his mommy!). Mommy and baby are doing well.

The kids taking their first peek at their new cousin. Thank goodness for picture share on the cell!

This is the first time I've become an aunt on my side of the family, and the kids are very excited about their new cousin. Benjamin has been running around all morning saying, "Mia here!!" and Micah has declared him to be, "pretty."

Congratulations, Matt and Megan!!!! Jeremiah, we love you so much already, and have been praying for you for a long time! Aunt Kierstyn can't wait to get a hold of you in a month!

Our Little Soccer Star

Micah had soccer tonight, his first soccer practice with my new camera!! So of course I had to tag along to take pictures of my little soccer star.

In the front yard, warming up.

Playing goalie.

Kicking the ball around.
Usually, at soccer practice, the kids are placed in groups of about 5 kids, and they rotate to different stations, practicing different skills. After they did that tonight, they had a mini scrimmage. I was so excited to see Micah's skills on the field. Well, I didn't see much of that, but here's what I did see........

Micah playing in the dirt!!
Actually, he did play a little. Just a little, but we'll count it!
And a quick medical update on us sickies. Micah and I both had pretty good days (hence the reason we were all able to go to soccer!). I'm very, very tired. Micah seemed okay through the day. He would be fine one moment, then upset and cranky the next. I'm hoping that the fresh air did us all some good and that we will have a great day tomorrow!
