booboo boys

The mosquitos love my son! Check out his cheek, and his ear. We tried to get pictures right after he came in and the swelling was more impressive, but he was more interested in his meat loaf. I think we counted at least six mosquito bites, all on his face and neck.
This is what happens when you try to play softball like your 20 when you're really 29. :-) Actually, he says he slipped off first base because it was wet. Still not as impressive as Michael's trip off first base a few seasons ago..... and for that, I'm thankful!

Crazy Micah

Micah: Poopy.
Me: You have a poopy diaper?
Micah: mmm hmm (or yes)
Me (after checking) Nope, you're fine.
Micah (pointing at diaper again): Bugs.

My Zoo

Tonight was the Fall Festival at our church. This is the fourth year we've been, and we have a ball every time. I really enjoy picking out the kids' costumes, and especially like to have them have a matching theme. This year everyone was a zoo animal. Elizabeth was a giraffe, Micah was a monkey and Benjamin was a lion. Here are some pictures of our evening.

Black and White?

Grey's Anatomy is one of my favorite shows. I've been watching it for four seasons now. When it first came out, my sister Shannon was living in town. She would come over, we would play with the antena, trying to get the perfect picture. Needless to say, we were big fans.

But lately, I've been disappointed by the show. And maybe it's more that just this show, it a thought process that I see more and more that frustrated me. The thing the frustrates and disappoints me is the thought process I seem to see about marriage.

For those of you who aren't fans of the show, you spend the entire first season rooting for Meridith and McDreamy, only to find out at the end of the season that McDreamy is married. Separated, but still married. I wanted things to work our between McDreamy and Meridith, but that was wrong. He had a wife. And so, I began rooting for the wife. And as you may have guessed, things don't work out with the wife. She now has her own spin off.

Well, this season, they've done it again. They make you root for a couple, but in reality, the guy is married. Come on! On the most recent episode, there was a conversation between the husband (George) and his mentor, Dr. Bailey. She basically tells him that nothing is black and white, and they he's not a bad guy for cheating on his wife.

Are you kidding me?

As a Christian, it is black and white. Scripture plainly teaches that marriage is sacred, and is to be held is high esteem. But that's not what's happening in TV land. And even though I know that not all marriages are perfect, it would be nice, for once, to see marriage portrayed as the blessing that it is.

A good day...

...gone very wrong.

Today was shaping up to be a very nice day. We were accomplishing things around the house, having some nice time with the kids, everyone was taking good naps, the Aggies were playing and we were having friends over. All good things.

Then Micah woke up from his nap, throwing up. we had to cancel our plans for the evening, and instead got to deal with throw up. Then Elizabeth woke up from her nap, throwing up as well. Oh fun!

And of course the Aggies were a big let down, the game was terrible.

And we don't get to go to church. Poor Micah will be bummed that he won't get to see his Anna (Hannah A.).

So, if you think of the Krajcas this evening, say a little prayer for us. Elizabeth seems to be doing okay, with only a couple puking episodes. Micah has been asleep since 6pm, and hasn't eaten since breakfast. Poor guy couldn't even keep water down this afternoon. Benjamin seems fine, as do Curtis and I.

Wait, the Aggies are actually starting to put points on the board! Maybe it will be a good evening after all.

Yeah right!

Pumpkin Pics

These pictures didn't turn out as well as I was hoping. We just checked the pumpkin patch two weeks ago, and there were tons of pumpkins. Foolishly, I waited until it was a little cooler. Barley any pumpkins left. Today was a beautiful day. A little too beautiful. The sun was in the kids' faces, so we have lots of squinty eyed pictured. And to top it all off, my camera batteries died. But I had an extra set. Unfortunately, they too were dead. Oh well.

Here's what pictures we did get.

Cinderella

Maybe I should start making this a weekly instalment.... Elizabeth in her Cinderella dress. Today, Cinderella ditched the pumpkin, and got some wheels of her own. Who needs a fairy godmother when you have Grandma and Grand-Daddy who can buy you a bike?

Baby in a bar

You know the movie Sweet Home Alabama? If so, remember the part where Reese Witherspoon's character walks into the bar in her home town, only to see one of her old friends, who is toting a baby with her. Reese's character says, "Look at you! You have a baby.... in a bar."

Well, that was me and Benjamin tonight.

I had a cavity filled this afternoon. No big deal, but this evening, my jaw has been very sore. So Benjamin and I went in search of something Mommy could eat. The original plan was to just get a milkshake. But after talking to my Mom, I decided to head to Cheddar's where I could get soup and some soft veggies. Of course, to order take out, you have to go to the bar.

Benjamin and I had a lovely evening. And I'm sure my baby and I were quite the sight at the bar.

We're old

Curtis and I are going to bed. It's 9:40 and we're totally exhausted and going to bed.

Sad, I know.

Even worse is that we were ready to go to bed 20 minutes ago, but the baby woke up.

We need help!

Grand-Daddy

Today is my Daddy's birthday! My two favorite men share a birthday month!

What a year it has been for my dad! In a matter of a couple months he had a daughter graduate from college, he changed jobs, welcomed a new grandson, threw a wedding for the same daughter who just graduated, and moved. Oh, and all that happened in three different states.

And even in the midst of it all, my dad is joyful, loving and has more dignity than any other man I know.

Daddy (Grand-Daddy) we love you very much! Thank you for loving me, for taking care of me, and for showing me what a godly husband looks like. Thank you for the support and encouragement you give to my family, and for the love you lavish on my children. Happy birthday!

(Sorry my Dad's head is a little fuzzy in the picture. Turns out there was a finger print on the lens. Imagine that!)

Better late?

I really had been meaning to post this a lot sooner. But life, and the kids, got the better of me this week.

So, for those of you who didn't know, Curtis celebrated his 29th birthday on Monday, the 15th. With work being so busy for him the past couple of weeks, we knew it was going to be a hectic day. But even though we got stuck in a torrential down pour during birthday lunch, and because of said down pour the softball game was cancelled, I think he still had a good day.

At one point during his day at work, someone asked him how old her was turning. He responded, "29." The lady who asked laughed and replied, "No, really. How old are you?" She was convinced that since Curtis had three kids, he had to be older. Curtis just smiled and said, "Yes, I have three kids AND I've been married for almost seven years."

Every year I am blessed to see Curtis change and grow into an even better husband and father. The grace God has shown to Curtis is so evident! The past several years have been very busy ones for us, but there is no one else I would rather go through this crazy thing called life, than Curtis. I love you, Sweetie! Happy birthday!

Even with a screaming baby, he still has a smile!

Awww! Just to explain Curtis' expression, it was about 6am in this picture, and it had been a looong night for Daddy and Mommy! But he still looks like he's having fun, even if he is a bit sleepy.

A sweet Lady

On Tuesday evening, a very sweet lady in our church died in a car accident. Several people from church have blogged their memories of Pat, and I wanted to take the time to do the same.

When Benjamin was sick, and in the hospital, it was a very tough time for me. I wasn't getting a ton of company (for Benjamin's protection we tried to limit visitors, especially ones with small children), I was in the hospital with a sick baby, and I wasn't with my other babies.

One evening, three women from church came up to see us. Pat was one of them. She introduced herself saying, "I know you don't really know me that well, but I wanted to come and let you know that I'm praying for your baby." She truly touched me with how genuinely she wanted to help, even though she really didn't know me. She then proceeded to ask if I needed anything. I told her I was fine. She shook her head at me and said, "I heard you ask the nurse for another pillow. Did you get it?" Well, no I sheepishly replied. Off Pat went, in quest for a pillow. She came back, made the pillow, fluffed the pillow, and made sure it positioned just right.

She then moved to the tray of food, making sure I had eaten something. Apparently, she approved, and moved on to the jog of water, which was empty. "Nursing mommies need to drink lots of water! I'll be back." Wow! Talk about a true servant's heart! She also offered to come help me once I was home, and even offered to help me pack to go to my sister's wedding since "I'm good at that kind of stuff, and I have some free time on my hands." She had so much "free time" because her mother, who she had been taking care of for several years, had passed away on the same day Benjamin was born.

About a month or so after Benjamin was given a clean bill of health, I was able to visit with Pat again at a women's fellowship. Bless her heart, she hadn't heard that Benjamin was fine, and doing well, and was still worrying and praying for him!

Another testimony to her servant's heart. I'm one of the nursery coordinators for our church. Sometimes, I have a hard time finding people who can serve in the nursery. When making the schedule for September, Pat's name jumped into my head. Without really checking, I put her on the schedule. And there she was, ready to love the toddlers! No complaining, just a willing servant's heart.

Please pray for Pat's family. The funeral is on Saturday. Please also pray for our church. As has been pointed out by several, we have had a rather high number of funerals in the past six months. We know God is sovereign, and we just in his faithful love for us.

Elizabethism

This evening, Curtis was dealing with the two big kids and trying to get them fed. Apparently Elizabeth received instructions she was not fond of. All I heard was, "Don't talk at me, I'm not your wife!"

You can imagine how well that went.

OCD?

A quiz for Curtis. Made me laugh out loud! Anyone who knows Curtis well will get a laugh out of this too. (Couldn't post the actual quiz results because of the picture that went with the question about being "Anal Retentive").

You Are Totally Anal Retentive
Yup, you're so uptight - people definitely have called you "anal."You're the type of person who's so OCD you organize your M&Ms before eating them. You have so many rules and rituals, it's hard for you to let loose and enjoy life.So go ahead and mix up your alphabetized CD collection. Live a little!

No more quizzes, must get some sleep!

Aren't I diverse

See Michael, you can quit calling me a yankee now. :-)

And what's dixie?

booty

Elizabeth and I were reading a book today, and came across the word "booty". Of course, this particular definition was one referring to treasure or prized possession, rather than anatomy. Elizabeth was a little confused as to why one word would have several meanings. All she knows is the definition from the song, "Shake, shake, shake! Shake, shake, shake! Shake your booty!"

I launched into an explanation, telling her that the word "booty: could also refer to treasure, or something special. For lack of thoughts, I likened booty to her silky (a VERY prized possession).

Her response, "My silky looks like a booty?"

Swing

Our church had a picnic this evening. The weather was beautiful, and the kids had a blast! Elizabeth played in the biggest sand box EVER (the sand volley ball court) while Micah chased any ball he could find, played on the slide, swung, and was his busy self. Benjamin was quite content just hanging out with me, watching all the activity. I thought he might enjoy a little ride in the swing. Apparently not so much into the swing.

Sleeping Beauty

Actually, she's Cinderella, but you get the idea. She was so tired today, but wouldn't take a nap. When we went to pick Curtis up from work, she fell asleep in the car. I like her like this... cute, girly, and sleeping! (And notice the Little Mermaid tattoo!)

A little game

Q: What do all these have in common?

A: All these things were drawn on by Micah in blue crayon. Kids are so much fun! That'll teach me to try to put Benjamin to sleep, rather than reading to Micah.

A small place

In Micah's Randomness post I mentioned that Micah likes to squeeze into small places. Our good friend (and father to Micah's best friend) Matt, commented on my definition of a small place, since Micah is after all, not a small boy. So, for Mr. Matt, here's where we found Micah the other day. Not small for some, but small for him!

Happiness for $1

Today, in an effort to keep the kids busy and give Mommy a break, we went to the $1 store. It's the new one in town, and I had heard that there were lots of great things.... groceries, cleaning supplies etc.

So with a promise of candy, we headed out. About half way there, Micah fell asleep, followed quickly by Benjamin. Deciding two out of three sleeping children was not what I wanted to deal with at the store, we headed home. Of course Benjamin woke up as soon as we got home, and never went back to sleep (see his blog for details on that). And Micah didn't take a great nap. Getting out of the house was a must at this point!

This $1 store was HUGE! I was very thankful that despite the vast opportunities for nagging, I didn't hear many, "Mommy, I want this!" And when I did hear that, a simple "You don't need that right now" or "Look, you already have a new toy" worked. Thank goodness!

So, here are our $1 store finds.

Micah with his new tool belt, Dr. Elizabeth, and a "Got milk?" onesie for Benjamin. All for a $1!
After almost an hour in the $1 store, we headed to the car for some the promised candy. It was 4:00, and I really didn't want to head home, just to have to got back out to pick up Curtis from work. So we gave Mr. Norval a call, and headed to his Feed and Supply store, to see all his critters. The kids love Mr. Norval, and upon leaving the store, Elizabeth declared it fun, "like the zoo!"
Even though I was planning on a very rough afternoon with three fussy kids, we ended up having a pretty good time. So, head to your local dollar store where you too can buy a little happiness.

Finally!

Benjamin has now not only moved into his brother's room, but he also is now sleeping in his own crib (before he was sleeping in his infant crib). Two cribs, one nursery, no twins!
Thanks a bunch to Hannah for letting us borrow the crib!
And thanks a bunch to Ashlee for helping me organize the boys' room!

Because he's cute.

He may look cute....

Haven't seen this face much today. Benjamin woke up at6:30 and hasn't slept since! I take that back, he slept for a few minutes in the car, and for 20 minutes in his crib. We've tried everything we can think of.....
car rides (he screamed all the way home from Navasota)
swing (he did a sit up and bonked his head on the tray)
pacy
nursing
bottle
crying it out (he screamed for 20 minutes, and never went to sleep)

But look at how cute he can be! He's very deceptive!
Any advice?

Andy

Meet Andy.

I met Andy this afternoon while folding laundry. Elizabeth was watching a little TV, and the boys were napping. We've found it to be a little bit of a challenge to find decent TV for Elizabeth in the afternoons. But there's a show called Maya and Miguel on PBS that is harmless.

Maya and Miguel are Hispanic (based on their names, I'm sure you're shocked) and they have a wide ethnic range of friends. Andy is one of their friends. Andy also happens to be the token white guy on the show.

Another thing you may have noticed about Andy is that he only has one and a half arms. When I noticed that today, I must admit I was a little taken aback. Poor Andy, not only is he the only white guy, he's also the token disabled person.

Now, please don't get me wrong. I think it is a very good thing that children's shows portray such a wide range of characters. But usually, when it comes to disabilities, it's something a little less random. You see a lot of character in wheel chairs, or who are blind. So when I see a kid running around with only one full arm, I was surprised (and amused!).

All this to say, Andy made me chuckle today. He also reminded me of how important it is to teach our children about all the many different kinds of people God made.

More ballet

At Bryn's birthday party, we were introduced to Bella Ballerina. Bella is an Australian ballerina, who has an instructional video, complete with bar and mat. We found Elizabeth the Bell stuff for really cheap. And now, I HATE Bella! She is so annoying. So here's a rather long video of Elizabeth (and Micah!) dancing to the Bella video. Just listen to the songs if nothing else. It will make you CRAZY!

ballet girl

Today at Wal Mart, we got Elizabeth some new ballet things. So here are a couple pictures of her in her new leotard and skirt. And notice that she has a big girl bun in her hair! Too cute!
