Homeschool Mom

Tomorrow's the big day! Elizabeth starts her first day of Kindergarten, and I become an official Homeschool Mom.

In preparation for becoming the ideal homeschool mom, I've been checking things off my list. Here's what I've accomplished so far:
  • Acquired Saxon Math. Can't homeschool without (so I've heard).
  • Acquired Saxon Phonics. If Saxon Math doesn't make me a homeschool mom, then I'm thinking this will.
  • I've joined a homeschool co-op, which starts after Labor Day.
  • We've planned out our school calendar.
  • I've made busy boxes for the boys.
  • Chore charts are almost done.
  • Bible folders are done.
  • My master plan/schedule for educating, cooking and cleaning is in place.
  • And most importantly, I'm pregnant. That's a big one, people!

However, there are still a few things that I'm lacking.
  • I need about 12 more inches of hair on my head so that I can braid it, or put it in a bun.
  • Someone needs to come and confiscate all my makeup.
  • Still haven't obtained a denim skirt or a floral jumper.
  • And most importantly, I need a mug with this picture on it:
Once I get all those things, I'm confident that I too can join the ranks of great homeschooling mothers!

You'll do a great job. I love you!

No, no, you are not ready yet. You need to make some granola and wear white knee socks or anklets with brown loafers.

I'm cracking up, Kierstyn. And I must tell you I am so impressed with you and Curtis for making homeschooling such a priority for your kids. You are a role model as a mother, wife and NOW teacher (again)! You were a FAN-tastic teacher when I worked with you and I know you will be just as good with your own kiddos!

And I keep forgetting you're doing all of this and you're pregnant!

Go girl!

Ok, I have about 11 inches of hair (give or take), but you'll never see it in a bun. Don't own a denim skirt (anymore) or floral jumper and I do wear makeup and I've been a homeschool mom for 6 years. I hope I'm not failing homeschool. . .hmmm.

I know you'll do a great job. You have your mom as a role model and you turned out ok! Can't wait to hear how it goes tomorrow. Love you! Give those kiddos a hug from Ms. Carissa!

once you have that extra 12 inches of hair be sure to get a bad perm, you also need a white, blue, or silver 15 passenger van... THEN you'll be a good homeschool mom... Just ask Michelle Duggar
