Well, we were back at the dentist again today. Who would have thought that a "little" fall off the slide could cause so much trouble! But as Elizabeth told the hygienist, "I fell on the slide AND the ground!"
After watching Elizabeth's two front teeth turn gray for over a week, we decided we should go ahead and take her in. She was totally excited! The hygienist took her back, let her sit in the chair, asked her what happened, and Elizabeth (of course) was more than happy to share the horrible drama of the slide!
Then the excitement started.
Dr. V came in to check her out. Unknowingly, he kinda snuck up on her, and scared her to death! Then, she realizes that this guy kinda looked weird, due to the mask and funny dentist goggles (why he didn’t take them off, I don’t know!!). So she did what any two year old would do. Cry. And cry, and cry! We couldn't get her to open her mouth. She just kept saying, "I want to go home! I not like this dentist!" Finally the hygienists (there were two at this point) bribed her to show Dr. V her teeth, and she got two toys!
The diagnosis: Her two front teeth are dead. Thankfully, it doesn't look like there's going to be any effect on her permanent teeth. We still have to keep an eye on her to look for signs of decay in the gums, but all is good for now.
So, Elizabeth needs a face mask for her third birthday!

Bless her heart! My sweet neighbor's just-turned-four-year-old has a front tooth and the one to the side of it out already. An unfortunate accident involving jumping on the bed and an ornate wooden footboard. Those baby teeth just aren't strong enough to endure all these kids' antics, huh?
:)
Poor baby! Sounds like she had a rough time, but I am glad that she made it through okay...with two toys none the less. How funny! Boy, the days that await me... :-)Take care!
OUCH!! Poor little thing, I didn't know slides were so hazardous!! Glad that the permanent teeth will be okay. That's funny about the scary dentist!
I'm so sorry, and hope she will be feeling better soon. Last year my five year old fell onto a pile of blocks at preschool. No foul play, no horse play. Just freak accident. He lost one of the front two teeth (I'm quite familiar with the teeth turning gray thing - ouch!) and the other managed to hold on till this year when he lost it naturally. Until it happened, I would never have imagined such trauma could ensued from an innocent interaction with a few wooden building blocks!
